Interesting places for hiking directly from Hrabovo and in the vicinity of Hrabovo valley

Directly from Hrabovo: Obrova cesta to Čutkovská dolina

Hrabovská dolina and Čutkovská dolina are some of the most beautiful places in Ružomberok. These two beautiful valleys are connected by a forest hiking trail, which is also suitable as a bike trail. The route starts directly from us from Fatrapark 2. You will go up the asphalt road and after about 200 meters of climbing next to the cottages you will come to a fork. To the right is Obrova cesta. To the left is Medvedia cesta. You turn right onto the Obrova cesta, which in time turns into a forest weighbridge following the yellow cycle sign. The route leads to Obrovo - a children's complex in Čutkovská dolina. Along the route are stored things of Giant "Čutko" - huge glasses, a huge chair ... which are a nice attractions for children. In Čutkovská dolina, you can then refresh yourself in Koliba u Dobrého Pastiera or in Koliba Fatranka. You can go back to Hrabovská dolina the same way back, or call a taxi :)

Difficulty: easy (the route is also suitable with a pram)

Directly from Hrabovo: Medvedia cesta to Vlkolínec

Medvedia cesta is an educational forest hiking trail that leads from Hrabovská dolina to the open-air museum Vlkolínec. You can start directly from Fatrapark 2. You will go up the asphalt road and after about 200 m of climbing next to the cottages you will continue along the asphalt road following the signs "Medvedia cesta". The route will later turn into a forest hiking trail. Along the way there are several educational boards that will acquaint you with the life of the bear. You don't have to worry about a real bear "hopefully" :) but a bell or other noise will definitely help you not to meet. Approximately in the middle of the road there is also the attraction Mini Farma Sidorovo. And then you go down to Vlkolínec - this UNESCO village is one of the most visited monuments around Hrabovo and Liptov. Here you will find the original architecture of a mountain folk village. Colorful log houses are built in the classic Liptov style and are unique in the world. There is also a traditional Slovak restaurant in Vlkolínec where you can refresh yourself.

Directly from Hrabovo: Hill and View Point Sidorovo

You will definitely not miss the Sidorovo hill in Ružomberok. It is a high hill of 1099 m conical shape, which is located above the UNESCO open-air museum Vlkolínec. There are three hiking trails leading to Sidorovo. You can also set off directly from us from Fatrapark 2. You will go up the asphalt road and continue along the Medvedia cesta tourist nature trail. You will come to the Mini Farm Sidorovo, where you will then turn to the subsequent climb to the top of Sidorovo, which is already a bit steeper. You can also come here from the city - from Kalvária.. The hike to Sidorovo is not difficult, just a little steeper, but the children will definitely be able to handle it as well. The Sidorovo viewpoint will be your destination - from the viewpoint there is a beautiful view of Vlkolínec, Biely Potok, Revúcka valley, the Low Tatras and the whole of Liptov. It pays to go there at sunset, but you have to think of headlights because of the way back.

Hike to Veľký Choč - the most beautiful views in Veľká Fatra

If you are more interested in more demanding hiking, please note. Veľký Choč is considered to be the most beautiful lookout hill in Slovakia and reaches a height of 1611 m. From the top of Choč mountains there is a beautiful view of the panorama of Northern Slovakia - you will see Liptov, Malá Fatra, Veľká Fatra, Low Tatras, Western Tatras, Skorušinské vrchy and Oravská Magura. The hike to Veľký Choč is not the easiest, it is necessary to prepare for a relatively steep climb, but it is definitely worth it (but don't worry, there are no chains). It's another popular "instagram spot" where you can take beautiful photos. Four marked hiking trails lead to the top of Veľký Choč. For example, from the village of Valaská Dubová, the ascent to Veľký Choč is the shortest. And from the village of Vyšný Kubín or from the village of Lúčky, the hike to Veľký Choč is again the most beautiful.

Lúčanský waterfall - a natural phenomenon of Liptov

We recommend that you also visit the village of Lúčky and the Lúčanský waterfall. The waterfall is a great rarity, just because it is situated in the center of the village. It has a cascading face, is 12 m high and falls into a small pond.

Bešeňovské travertíny - a natural creation near the village of Bešeňová

Bešeňovské travertines belong to the most famous travertine localities in Slovakia and Liptov and are a protected natural monument. Mineral water still flows down their cascades. This water contains calcium carbonate, magnesium, sulfur and iron - that is why Bešeňovské travertines are so nicely colored. They are also considered to be the most interesting and rare travetine locality in Europe.
