Demänovská Cave of Freedom - a jewel around Liptovský Mikuláš

The Demänovská Cave of Freedom is located in the beautiful nature reserve of the Demänovská Valley, in the northern part of the Low Tatras. This cave is the most visited in Slovakia. You will be enchanted by the rich filling of different colors, beautiful lakes and the underground flow of the river Demänovka. Advance booking is not possible, you need to come to the place and join the tour that will follow. Do not forget warm clothes, the average temperature in the cave is 6-7 ° C. You can park your car in the parking lot (from Liptovský Mikuláš in the direction of Jasná Nízke Tatry / Demänovská dolina) and an educational trail leads to the cave, the route takes up to 15 minutes. Attention - payment by card is not possible.

Demänovská Ice Cave - a unique cave in Liptov

Another gem in the Demänovská valley is the Demänovská ice cave, which is unique especially for the permanent occurrence of ice filling. However, it is declining every year due to global warming. In the cave you will also be enchanted by its underground spaces and cave fauna. Do not forget to put on warm clothes, the temperature in the cave can be from 0 ° C to 3 ° C in summer and sturdy shoes are also suitable. From the parking lot in Demänovská dolina there is an educational trail - around Kamenná chata - through which you can get to the cave. The ascent takes up to 20 minutes. Attention - payment by card is not possible.

Stanišovská Cave

A little further from the Demänovská valley is the Stanišovská Cave, which is the only year-round open cave in Liptov. You can find it in the north of Jánská dolina in the Low Tatras, about 35 minutes by car from Hrabovo. Stanišovská Cave is 28 meters deep and 871 meters long, of which 177 meters are accessible to the public. An organized tour with a caveman lasts about 1 hour. The temperature in Stanišovská dolina is approximately 6 ° C throughout the year, so you need to dress warmer even during the summer. It is open every day from 10:00 to 16:00, with organized tours starting at one o'clock. Currently, entry is charged at 7 euros for adults and 4 euros for pensioners and children. Orava Museum and Orava Castle

Orava Castle is one of the most popular attractions in Orava. It is built on a rock above the village of Oravský Podzámok. The history of Orava Castle dates back to 1241, when the castle began to be built on the site of an old wooden castle after the invasion of the Tatars. It acquired its current form in 1611. The interior of the Orava Castle is very rich, it consists of up to 155 rooms and there are up to 754 steps. It is popular to connect the three entrance gates through a tunnel, under which you will find underground corridors. Probably the most popular are the events at Orava Castle as night tours of the castle, accompanied by theater performances and a haunting program. Likava Castle - the ruin of Likava Castle near Ružomberok

You can go to Likava Castle by two routes. The first route is from Ružomberok (from the railway station Ružomberok) - it's about 60 minutes hiking. The second option is to go from the village Likavka (from the bus stop) - it's about 30 minutes hiking. In both cases, you will reach the castle following the red sign. It is also a pleasant walk and a tip for a trip around Ružomberok. Likavka Castle offers beautiful views of Ružomberok and the surrounding area of ​​Liptov. There is also a castle museum on the castle, which will surely delight lovers of history. Admission to Likavka Castle (which includes the museum) is 3 euros for adults and 1.5 euros for children.
